Sidney Poitier, 91 – $25 million
When he was 16, Sidney Poitier worked as a dishwasher while a waiter helped him learn how to read. When he was finally accepted in the A.N. Theater, he was rejected by audiences so he made a decision to refine his acting skills. Today, Poitier is an Academy Award-winning actor, director, author, and diplomat. He is the first Bahamian-American actor to receive an Oscar for Best Actor and a Golden Globe in the same category for his performance Lilies of the Field. In 2016, Poitier received a BAFTA Fellowship for his achievements and he is the author of several books. He has eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
